Google has announced a new automated service called “Bard”. This Bard chat AI is considered capable of providing fresh, high-quality responses to information. The announcement regarding Google Bard was first made by Sundar Pichai, CEO of the California-based technology giant. In his official announcement on Google’s blog, the service was designed using Google’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) language modeling technology.
Combining Intelligence, Creativity, and Power Through Bard Chat AI

As a service designed using AI language modeling, Bard AI can help users summarize information available on the internet. Bard is an AI language model service created by Google. A language model is a learning machine that can provide word predictions by analyzing text within a specific dataset. To provide word predictions, the language model is trained on a variety of text data. These predictions become responses or output from the text data inputted by the user into the language model.
Using the PaLM 2 Model
Bard AI strength lies in its advanced technology called PaLM 2 (Pathways Language Model). This is a smart machine trained on a vast amount of data, including text, articles, and programming languages. Therefore, Bard Chat AI can understand a wide range of topics, from casual conversation to technical discussions like coding or data analysis.
Mimicking Human Communication
Furthermore, Bard is designed to mimic human communication patterns. This aims to make interactions feel natural. Users can talk to Bard AI as if they were having a normal conversation with another person without the need for rigid commands.
Extracting Information and Formulating Answers
Google Bard’s AI can use its knowledge to formulate answers for users. This starts by identifying question patterns, comparing information from available sources, and answering using the most appropriate sentence. Bard is quite up-to-date because it can retrieve the latest data from Google pages.
The Emergence of Bard
In the announcement on Google’s official blog, there’s a specific description of how Bard will work. The image shows that Bard Chat AI will be embedded in the Google Search bar, specifically in the “What’s on your mind?” field.
Through this search field, users can enter questions or information. Bard will then display answers in a much more fluid language, much like a person engaging in a conversation. The Bard AI, a conversational AI language model, operates similarly to OpenAI’s AI chatbot service, ChatGPT, which has gained popularity since last year.
Bard AI appears to be Google’s answer to the question of whether it can create AI chatbots. Google, with Bard, will certainly compete with ChatGPT. After the ChatGPT release, many claimed the service could kill Google Search. Previously, Google CEO Sundar Pichai was reported to have issued a “code red” regarding the launch of an AI-based product at Google. It’s possible that this code red signaled that Google AI product would soon be released to the public.
Pichai also gave the green light to streamline the assessment process and mitigate the potential dangers of his AI technology. Furthermore, Pichai also began a major reshuffle and overhaul of the Google team, clearly in response to the ChatGPT threat. In fact, the CEO of the tech giant, Google, even sought guidance from Larry Page and Sergey Brin regarding his strategy for dealing with threats like ChatGPT.
Larry Page and Sergey Brin apparently held several meetings with Google executives in December of last year. The goal was to develop an AI strategy and agree on plans to incorporate more chatbot features into Google’s search engine. With the emergence of Bard Chat AI, Google is ready to compete with OpenAI’s ChatGPT in the conversational AI language model service sector.
Bard Becomes Gemini AI
Meanwhile, Google officially changed the name of its artificial intelligence chatbot, Bard, to Gemini. This answers the question, “Are Bard and Gemini different?” The answer is no.
Pichai said the changes were made to better reflect the core technology within the Bard service. The technology is Google’s Large Language Model (LLM), later called Gemini.
Beyond just the name change, Google has also introduced a separate Gemini AI chatbot app for mobile devices on the Android platform. This differs from the previous Bard app, which could only be accessed via the URL https://bard.google.com/.
Google also stated that the Gemini mobile app is expected to make it easier for users to access the AI chatbot via smartphones.
Bard is essentially the same as other chatbots. Users type a prompt, and it will provide an answer. However, the difference is that this service can provide multiple draft answers. Furthermore, by clicking “modify your answer,” users can edit the answer as desired. Google also stated that the Gemini mobile app is expected to make it easier for users to access the AI chatbot via smartphones. In the article explaining AI, there is no distinction between Bard chat AI and Gemini AI. I hope this helps.
